“The Green Planet” – a vision of our future as peaceful people of the universe
The film “The Green Planet” (La Belle Verte) by Coline Serreau is more than just a science fiction comedy – it is a poetic, profound vision of how a future humanity might live, freed from greed, technology addiction and destructive patterns.
A highly developed civilization without technology
The inhabitants of the Green Planet are people like we could once be: They live in harmony with nature, without technology, without consumerism, without hierarchies. Your life is permeated with simplicity, love, deep connection and inner clarity. They no longer know computers, television or even cars – they have long since left these developments behind them because they have impaired their enjoyment of life and their connection to one another.
Instead of technical devices, they use their sophisticated ones Clairsenses: Telepathy, teleportation, intuitive knowledge and the ability to communicate with other beings – including plants and animals. These skills appear completely natural in the film, almost playful. They are an expression of a spiritually mature humanity that has developed the full potential of its consciousness.
The return to earth
The protagonist Mila is sent on a “mission” to Earth – a planet that no one visits voluntarily anymore because it seems so backwards. What she experiences there is an encounter with our current world: hectic pace, power structures, isolation and a deep forgetting of one's own being.
With loving humor and gentle irony, the film shows how absurd many of our "civilized" behaviors are – and how easy it could be to reconnect. With just a few impulses, Mila causes entire systems to falter by “unplugging” people – she frees them from their internal and external constraints, opens hearts and awakens their compassion.
A vision for peace in the universe
“The Green Planet” is therefore a powerful metaphor for a future in which humanity recognizes its true purpose: to create peace – not just on Earth, but in the entire universe.
